It was a joy and privilege to witness the Arangetram of Ashrita, presented by Nritya Kalakshetra Academy of Performing Arts under the guidance of her Guru, Smt. Sivanuja Balaji. This performance was not only a reflection of Ashrita’s dedication and perseverance, but also a testament to the Guru’s patient molding and nurturing over more than a decade.
What impressed me most was the effortless grace and artistry that Ashrita displayed. This comes from years of disciplined training where the Guru’s choreographic vision, artistic direction, and wealth of knowledge have been instilled in her—often so subtly that the student imbibes them without even realizing it.
Every presentation carried the hallmark of traditional depth combined with creative choreography, highlighting both Ashrita’s sincerity and the Academy’s high standards of training. Her stamina, precision, and expressive involvement were evident in each item, showing the unwavering commitment she has maintained throughout her journey.
I must commend Guru Smt. Sivanuja Balaji for her remarkable ability not just to teach technique, but to shape an artistic mindset in her disciples. This Arangetram was a living example of how a teacher’s vision and guidance can transform a student into a true artist.
